The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, on Saturday called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta.

The BJP office was set ablaze by the mobs who went violent after the condition of two hunger-strikers turned serious. Led by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, the hunger-strikers were demanding statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

The meeting between the Northern Army Commander and LG Ladakh has come a day after the arrest of Wangchuk under the National Security Act (NSA).
The meeting between the LG and top military brass focused on the overall security scenario, emerging challenges in the region, and the need for enhanced coordination between civil administration and the armed forces to maintain peace and stability, emphasising the importance of preparedness and synergy in addressing any contingency.
The Lt Governor appreciated the Army’s role in safeguarding the borders and ensuring the safety of the people, while the GOC-in-C reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to the security and integrity of the Union Territory.
Lt. General Hitesh Bhalla, GOC Fire & Fury Corps, Major General Dalbir Singh (MGGS Northern Command) and Colonel Vikas Vasisht (Deputy Military Advisor to Northern Army Commander) were among those who attended the meeting.
